7 ways Web 2.0 can benefit your church.

A rough and ready–I didn’t have time to expand, but may at a later date–guide to ways you can use social media (i.e. web 2.0. to benefit your church). Who said you needed a big broadcast media ministry to win souls?

1. Use a blog to create a free website for your church.

2. Use Twitter to send a daily word of encouragement to those connected to your church.

3. Create a Facebook Group to keep everyone in your church connected.

4. Use Google Sponsored links to promote your church, bid on keywords related to your location, ministry name etc.

5. Create your own TV channel with YouTube, upload excerpts from your service for all to be blessed.

6. Create a link to justgiving.com so that people are able to make donations to your church, and you can claim back the gift aid (only applicable if your church is a registered charity).

7. Use Amazon.com (www.amazon.co.uk) as your church’s web-store to sell books, CD’s and tapes you’ve created.

These are great suggestions to get started in using Web 2.0 for your church. We have connected people using Tumblr, wikis, Facebook, etc. When churches incorporate web 2.0 into their existing community people feel more connected to the physical church.

I agree, great start. Twitter is a great way to get instant communication to the congregation! Getting the church into the Social Media scene is a major need.
