12 things I learned on my way from singleness to marriage

Before you meet someone

1. Have a personal relationship with God.

2. Develop a godly character. This will attract others to the God in you.

3. Learn to be comfortable with yourself.

4. Seek friendships with others, don’t look for relationships.

5. Look for the right things. Don’t just look at the outward appearance, people also have a spirit, know what kind of spirit (character) they have.

When you meet someone you like

5. Get to know them as a friend, observe them, see how they interact with others, don’t “fall” in love “walk & grow” into love.

6. Share your feelings with someone spiritual and trustworthy (e.g. your pastor).

7. Make yourself accountable to a spiritual person you trust (e.g. your pastor).

8. Brothers, don’t ever tell a sister you want to marry her until you are totally convinced (and have the money for a ring!)

9. Have an open mind about the outcome of the relationship. You may both decide you are not right for each other.

10. Avoid being alone together, three is a good crowd.

11. Avoid staying on the telephone (MSN etc) for too long know when to end the conversation.

12. Keep God on His throne. Give God time and still keep Him no.1 in your heart.

    Bismillahir Rahmaanir Rahim

    As Salaamun ‘aleykum

And one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them, and He put between you love and compassion; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect. (The Holy Qur’an – 30:21)

I believe that if you try to look for a mate you never will find one until you stop looking.Ialso think that if you build a frienship with the particular person that yoiu maybe interested in and if that grows into marriage your marriage will be stronger.
