Giving God thanks for the gift He has given to sister Carol Campbell, of Bethel United Church Apostolic in Birmingham, England. She sent me a poem she had written today, and I had to share it here. It is entitled: “What We Say, Lord Have Your Way”. Be blessed by it.
What we say……Lord Have your way!
We say we want the victory, but yet we fail to pray,
We say we want things to change, but we won’t amend our ways.
We say the service wasn’t saying anything, but the preacher gave a timely word today.
We say there’s no healing anymore; it wasn’t like this, no not in the good old days.
We say ‘yes man, I have the truth,’ yet we overlook the importance of unity!
We say we are holy, yet that little serpent we call the tongue is full of so many impurities.
We say we’ve had enough of the children; they’re not doing as they’re told.
We say we want the best for them but we won’t listen when they talk, sometimes our actions towards them are so cold.
We say the church isn’t moving along as quickly as it should.
We say in our hearts, I could do a better job; the truth is we never would.
We say the older generation won’t give the youngsters a chance.
We say so many things but when we should be in the house of God we gone a party and say we a go dance.
We say we want to go to Heaven but yet we can’t live right,
We say we’ll make the sacrifice, yet we don’t seem to be able to make it back to service on a Sunday night.
We say the standards are slipping yet we live a double life.
We say I’m doing the best I can, but the question still remains, are we doing what is right?
We say, sister did you hear the choir sing today; man they tore up the song.
We say the blessings fell but yet we picked up our sins and carried on with our wrongs.
We say we’re struggling financially yet we won’t pay our tithes.
We say we’re kind but our actions say different, we’ve adopted the philosophy of ‘what is yours is yours and what is mine is mine!’
We say we’re ministers of the gospel yet our colleagues have never heard the truth.
We say we’re spreading the word but yet we sit in a corner looking quite aloof.
We say we love our mothers and our fathers and we take good instruction.
We say we’re ready for the baton to be handed down but do we even know what we believe, are we living the doctrine.
We say God can use anybody to do his work.
We say we accept each other yet we look down on one another and we cause so many hurts.
We say my Lord the sister or that brother is so lovely don’t you think.
We say we’re patient but beg me step on your toe only to see that your attitude stinks,
We say we’re there to help each other yet we’re quick to criticize if our brethren fall,
We say we have the spirit of discernment but we don’t take heed when Jesus unction’s us to make that crucial call.
We say God I’m available to you, use me as you will
We say God I’m ready but God is saying, listen and be still.
We say wait on the Lord but we do things in our own time.
We say God’s elevating us to another level yet peace within ourselves we cannot find.
We say we’re pulling down strong holds
We say we’re doing as unto the Lord when first we must be made whole.
We say its convocation; bwoy sah me a go dress to the max.
We say anointing fall on me but when last did we fast?
We say the devil caused us to stray when it’s actually our decision not to stay on track,
We say we’re trusting and believing yet we doubt whether God’s got our back.
We say it’s not my fault why my ministry isn’t growing; it’s my husbands or my wife’s.
We say we’re committed yet we argue, fuss and fight.
We say we forgive one another for any wrongs that we have done
We say and we sing the song, when we all get to heaven, reconciliation my brother, we have to live as one.
We say we know God watches us, we know we cannot hide
We say Jesus understands but we cannot hide behind a lie.
My Lord we say so much it makes you wonder do we ever stop to listen to what you say,
Don’t we realise by now that you just want to have your way.
God says;
Amend your ways and seek my face,
Turn again from your wicked ways.
You’re necks are stiff you have to turn,
Or else I will do a thing then you will learn.
I love you; I have placed purpose in you,
Do not waste your gifts and your talents; seek my face in all you do.
Love one another and live as one,
It won’t be long until I come.
Go out into the highways and the byways and spread my word,
Souls must be saved and my name must be heard.
I came to save those who were lost,
That’s why I gave my life, that’s why I died on Calvary’s cross.
Don’t just say …I’m doing this and I’m doing that but live the life.
Put away malice, bitterness, put away strife.
I will judge each and every one of you on judgement day,
Hearken now quickly…..For those who love me earnestly I will make a way.
I made a way for Peter James and John
I showed them how to forgive and live as one.
I’ll make a way when your forefathers are called home
But I say stand and see my glory, my will must be done.
I say humble yourselves and do what I have called you to do.
Humble yourselves and do what I have called you to do.
