The most contentious of scriptures in the Bible is 1 John 5:7 “And there are three that bear witness in heaven…”
According to theologians it is not in the earliest manuscripts and for that reason some say it was a later addition, possibly in support of the Trinity. My own view is that it does not support the Trinity, as it concludes that ‘the three’ agree in One – Jesus. However, it is also not included in some editions of the Bible (e.g. Good News Bible) and Scofiled and other editions include a footnote to point out the verse is most likely spurious.
