Katy Perry: I couldn’t get famous so ‘I kissed a girl’.

Katy Perry is the latest pop sensation, her song ‘I kissed a girl‘ is set to become a no.1 in the UK this weekend. Its a song about confused sexuality and experimentation with lesbianism. I was suprised to find that Katy Perry used to go by the name of Katy Hudson and was once a Christian artist. You can check out one of her Christian songs here, I must warn you they are pretty lame.

To me it seems that because singing about Christ did not bring riches and fame she has decided to sing about sensationalism and pull publicity stunts in order to be known. Something many ‘celebrities’ do, in fact there are few famous names in the daily tabloid papers who are actually any good at anything in particular – most are just famous for being famous – which is shallow.

There’s probably lots of other blogs which will deal with how the song is not compatible with Christian values. I won’t bother to talk about that because there is not really any pop song which is compatible with Christian values, which is why Christian’s should not listen to the world’s music – which comes with the world’s value system. For example, is this song any worse than Jay-Z ‘Big Pimpin’, or other Hip Hop artists who have deluded pastors such as Creflo Dollar featuring in them?

We should not expect the world to live according to Christian standards, but we should expect the church to remain the church and not be influenced.

  3. I myself am not into relgion much, but you raise a very good point. Terrible musician decides to leave behind Christian rock/pop. (Which was big at the time of her Hudson release) to go for stupid pop that just goes with the “Oh im BI!” Trend teens are having these days.
